Back again. My thoughts had been of my mother who at 84 years old and living in assisted living, wondered what she was doing around all those old people. "I still feel like a young girl inside", she giggled. Her dementia left her confused and forgetful, but she was still the same person inside and she knew it. Perhaps dementia at a certain point protects those afflicted with a shield against what is present around them and lets them live in their own private past.
Violetlady is rather introspective today. It is gray and wet here at the beach. I live and work at the beach, but equally (perhaps more) love the mountains and lakes. Who doesn't love beauty and want to be in it and around it as much as possible. I look forward to visiting my daughter and son-in-law and two grandsons in a few weeks. Now there is true beauty.

You know, I really loved your Mom. She was so pretty and was always so nice to me. I remember her making us deviled ham sandwiches for lunch. It must have been so hard for you to see her confused.

Violetlady has been busy, hasn't she? I received a package today with recipes from Diners around the country. We do love our Diner food. Thank you. When I think of the WG Diner, I remember hamburger patty (no roll) and mashed potatoes. So simple, but it still makes my mouth water.

my mother worked with people with alzheimers and dementia and counselled their families for years. i know it can be very hard...my grandmother also had alzheimers. what was wild about it was that it changed her personality for the better! LOL. she became a very sweet old lady and prior to that was very hard to be around. it was a long, difficult journey through her disease for her family. but there are lots of people who can help you if you need it. i'm rambling and didn't mean to. sorry!
