I can tell you that time is passing quickly. I know this by the frequency each Monday rolls around. When I had first posted my Monday's favorite things, I didn't realize that I would have such a never-ending choice of favorites right here in my house. Well, maybe I did since I am such a collector, especially of things from my family.
Today I am sharing with you something that is very precious to me since it was a baby gift for me around sixty years ago. Yes, I said 6 - 0!! This sweet little dish was handmade for me by a friend of my parents. It says "This is Meryl's dish" because Meryl is my first name (after my mother).
What astounds me are the things I have that are breakable and have survived all these years. My mother was protective of these things , as I am. I think it is a female thing: to treasure and to protect. After all, we do this with our parents, our children and with our friends. It is our most important "job" in this world.
Thank you for visiting, dear friends.

Hi Meryl,
Thank you for the nice comment on my blog. As you can tell I am really new to this, but enjoying it. I don't think I did the link to your blog correctly, will mess around and see if I can figure out how to fix it. I love all the touches on your site, I have so much stuff that I love. I like your showing your special things, I just might have to do some of that. I have things from my Grandfather that I treasure and would love to share. Thank you again for kind thoughts. When I go out into the yard I think of you, I have violets blooming, purple, blue and white. I thought they only bloomed in Spring??
Sometimes it is the handmade things that end up being the most valuable aren't they? That's a charming dish.
What a cute little plate!
What a great idea to post favorite things!
Have a great day!
love the idea of a favorite things post. Fun!
This is a very sweeet treasure...thank you for sharing. Linda
How precious! I have a few items like that from my childhood too. And it's amazing how well they've been maintained. Other things, not so much. ;-) Thanks for sharing!
Nothing is more precious than what comes from the heart.
Thank you for sharing,
What a cute dish! I don't have anything from when I was a little girl. My mom never kept things. Unfortunately for Susan and Donna, I've taken after my mom in that aspect. I do have a few things, but not much.
There's something special for you on my blog!
I love this little dish!! You have such wonderful family treasures, and it's really fun to see them and hear the stories behind them. I love that you're doing this every Monday!
That is such a precious little plate made even more special because it was handmade by a family friend all those years ago:-) Like you, I love to collect things and am very protective of it all!! xox
