WHAT IN THE WORLD IS IT?

Here is my recent purchase at my favorite local thrift shop. It is a triangular shaped bottle with a shaker style metal cap. The bottle is about 6 1/2 inches long and about an inch wide. It says "OWENS" (my last name) on two sides and on the bottom it has an "O" in a triangle. My research tells me this is from the Owens Glass Company, maybe before 1939.  What I do not know is what this bottle was used for. Was it a salt and pepper shaker? A laundry sprinkler bottle? Some kind of bottle used for medicines? I think it was meant to be kept on its side because of the triangular shape and the narrowness of it.

Does anyone have a clue?

A LITTLE PROJECT

I have been trying to keep from visiting our local thrift shops, but today I gave in. I was looking for a frame to use to make a tray like the one Cindy at My Romantic Home made. I also have a link in my sidebar to her because I visit her blog everyday. Cindy's blogging story is pretty amazing. She started like we all did, writing a little about what we like to do or our families and our hobbies and interests. But her blog really took off! She has had over a million visitors! She has decorated her rented apartment in a lovely, shabby chic style and it has even been featured on HGTV's "Rate My Space." She always has great ideas and the photographs are lovely.

So I have my frame. I need to put the little knobs on the bottom for feet, paint it and decide what I want to put under the glass. Maybe a few vintage hankies I have, or maybe postcards or photos. I will take a picture of it when I am finished. This might take a few weeks, though. I am not very crafty and I am certainly a procrastinator. But this project seems fairly simple, so I may be able to do it.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY....PLEASE!

I swear it has been rainy, cloudy, chilly, grey, depressing and just plain awful for the past week. It is supposed to continue until Sunday I think. Everyone seems miserable because of it. It is amazing what joy a little sunshine brings into our lives.

I went to one of the local thrift shops today and came away with a few things: a cut glass ice bucket with little ice tongs, an oil lamp with a cut glass base, a vintage pitcher like three others I have, and a few little linen doilies. Our neighborhood is having a yard sale on Saturday. I am trying to decide what to put out. It is so hard for me to get rid of things. I keep thinking I can use it or paint it or save it for later. HELP! I have to get rid of some stuff!
