Happy Day After Christmas, dear bloggers. I know I have been very lax in writing anything. This Christmas has been luxuriously different and I have no good reason for being a bum. (Ha, Ha -- this made me think of my Dad. He used the term "bum" in an unusually endearing way. If he sent a card to one of us, sometimes he would sign it, "Love from your old bum.") Ken and I are staying home for the entire holiday. This is a first since I can remember. On Saturday we drove to Kent Narrows in Maryland to meet his daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren at a restaurant which is halfway for all of us. We had a nice visit. Other than that, we have not had to drive or fly anywhere. It did feel strange to not see Beth and Dale and my grandsons, but I was just there on Halloween and Thanksgiving. They gave us the BEST gift, though. A Webcam! It was pretty easy to install and we were able to visit via this on Christmas Day and also today. I think Beth and I will make good use of this. It is almost as good as a real visit. This was the best present.
Christmas Eve we went to church and Christmas Day I made the turkey and everything for the two of us. We were invited to have dinner with some friends, but opted to stay home - just the two of us -- and also, of course, the three cats and the poodle. It has been a very nice Christmas and I hope yours was just as nice.
Here is a picture of our little tree. I decided to get a real tree this year and saw this little one and since I love little trees, it was just right. She's a little crooked at the top and needed trimming, but she is what she is.
Since New Years Eve is just around the corner, I have added the new music. I hope you enjoy it.
I'll be spending tomorrow catching up on all of you!

Ours was a small quiet Christma, too. Just one son and the two of us. However, in a few minutes, more kids and commotion will descend on Willow's Cottage. Total will be three children, one daughter in law and one friend. A full house :)

Christmas Day was busy, but this week has been slow and easy. It's so nice. We got lots of snow this week, so it's been great weather for curling up with a book, just relaxing around the house.

Sounds like you and Ken had a nice Christmas. It's a shame that Beth and the boys couldn't come down to be with you, but the Webcam was a great gift!

Your Christmas sounds lovely to me. You are going to enjoy your web camera...it really helps keep loved ones closer. I have to tell you the violet in your banner always make me smile. I have love violets and have a small patch in my yard...violets always remind me of my gramma's garden. Linda

ReplyDeleteOur son gave us a webcam - our new baby will be in Seattle - a long way from Minneapolis - so a very thoughtful gift. I'm excited to have it. I'm going to email you once I get caught up on blogs - I'm guessing you can give me some helpful suggestions for keeping in touch long distance!
